Verisign to to Increase .COM Prices in September

 Tuesday, July 13, 2021
Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN) announced that it will change the wholesale price for .com registration and renewals from $7.85 to $8.39 for all registrars. The price increase will be reflected on September 1, 2021.

Under the new agreements it struck with the U.S. government and ICANN, the company has been able to get authorization for such a move.

The deal allows an increase in prices by 7% this year and each of the next three years. That means the wholesale prices will be $10.26 by 2025, provided they take advantage of each price increase and do so to the maximum it is allowed.

Domain name registrars are free to charge whatever price they deem suitable, but many offer bulk prices below $8.39, so surely customers will see prices change in the beginning of September this year.
